Joe Raciborski – Head Coach

Joe first held a weapon in 1998 at a school camp and began formal training in 2000 at Blaxland High School in the Blue Mountains. He very quickly fell in love with the sport. Since then he has gone on to train at the University of Sydney while studying science and represented NSW and Australia in Men’s Sabre winning many state titles, national medals and as a personal highlight, a Junior Commonwealth Team bronze medal.

Joe has been coaching for more than a decade. His current roles include Assistant National Coach (epee) and NSW State Coach (epee). In 2016 he spent several months in Budapest completing his coach diploma with the FIE at the University of Physical Education and was awarded NSW Coach of the year. He is currently continuing his education by undertaking a Bachelor of Health Science (Health and Physical Education) at Western Sydney University.

Joe’s students have successfully competed at all levels (including the World Championships) and have won state and national titles in foil, epee, sabre (individual and team) and in Modern Pentathlon. Joe enjoys training fencers of all age groups and abilities.
